Hello, my name is Francie Thornton. Growing up with a father in government service meant many moves and living in many different places. "Home" to us was our Aunties cottage in Louisiana. I had my own bedroom there and spent many happy times there in between Daddy's posts sometimes for a year at a time. Outside one window was a honeysuckle bush whose scent would waft over me and lull me to sleep. To this day the scent of honeysuckle takes me back to that time and place. Marrying a military man meant more moves and more places and different jobs...but the scent of honeysuckle could always take me home.
When we finally settled down in one place a new found friend and I started setting up at the mall and selling our creations during the holidays. I have always made things from florals, ceramics to paintings. By this time I was making candles, potpourri, room sprays, soaps and other sweet scented things. A national bath and body chain complained to the mall manager that I was taking business away from their store. The solution, according to the mall manager, was to open our own shop.
Although our name was different then and we have since bought our own little cottage that was the beginning of The Scented Cottage. From a large mall store front to a brick building near the courthouse and now, in a small Victorian cottage on the edge of the historic home district and historic downtown Waycross, Georgia.
The Scented Cottage is dedicated to bringing you the finest and sweetest treasures for your home. We try to package them beautifully and with love and care.
We use only the finest ingredients in our scented products so that we can bring you your own scent memories or help you make new ones for yourself, family and friends.
