Founded in 2016 by Adam James Cavallari, Andrea Alessandri, and Fanqi Guan, Jijide began with a conversation between friends from different cultural backgrounds and a shared belief that fragrance could create connections between people. Even the name reflects this philosophy: pronounced Jījí de, it is derived from the Chinese 积极的, referring to a positive attitude toward life. The founders built the house around openness, inclusion, cultural exchange, and curiosity rather than traditional ideas of masculine or feminine perfumery.
Collaboration is central to Jijide. Its original Personality Collection, created with perfumer Maurizio Cerizza, translates emotions and states of mind into olfactory portraits. The Dialogue Collection gives emerging perfumers from different cultures the opportunity to create complementary fragrances around a shared theme, while the newer Conversations Collection brings together perfumers, fragrance students, producers, and cultural research to explore unusual raw materials from new perspectives.
Every fragrance is Made in Italy, with production concentrated within roughly 50 kilometers of Milan. But what makes Jijide especially distinctive is its belief that perfume can be a genuine cultural conversation. Rather than simply borrowing imagery from different parts of the world, the house invites perfumers to tell their own stories, creating fragrances shaped by real experiences, different identities, and the beauty that emerges when cultures meet.
