Kosui

The quiet beauty of Japan, expressed through scent.

Kōsui Fragrances is a Japanese-inspired niche fragrance house founded by Warren Bacal, translating the landscapes, rituals, flavors, and quiet beauty of Japan into contemporary perfumery.

Created with Japanese perfumer Yusuke Masuda, each composition balances refinement and emotion with a restrained style that allows individual materials to breathe

Founded in 2026 by Warren Bacal, Kōsui grew from his lifelong connection to Japanese culture. Warren began studying Japanese at age 11 and later spent part of his high school years living in Shizuoka, Japan. After noticing how rarely Japanese scent traditions and Asian cultures were authentically represented in Western perfumery, he created Kōsui as a way to honor the culture that had shaped his own ideas of beauty, restraint, and intention.
Central to the house is Japanese perfumer Yusuke Masuda, who grew up in Mishima City at the foot of Mount Fuji before studying perfumery for two years at l’ASFO in Grasse, France. His style combines what the brand calls quiet elegance with emotional clarity, using transparent compositions that give each material room to express itself. Through Kōsui, Masuda also sees fragrance as a way to share elements of his own Japanese culture.
The collection turns Japanese landscapes and experiences into scent, from the ocean air of Kaifū and the glow of Tasogare to the forthcoming gourmand Ichigo Daifuku, inspired by the traditional strawberry-filled Japanese sweet. At its heart, Kōsui is about stillness, memory, and sensory storytelling, creating fragrance as an invisible accessory that quietly becomes part of the person wearing it.
