The story of Eight & Bob begins in the early twentieth century with Albert Fouquet, a Parisian aristocrat and perfume connoisseur who crafted fragrances privately from his family château for personal use and select members of elite French society. Assisted by his butler Philippe, Fouquet became known for wearing an exquisite scent that quietly drew admiration wherever he went.
In the summer of 1937 on the French Riviera, Fouquet encountered a young John F. Kennedy, who became instantly captivated by the fragrance Albert was wearing. After returning to America, Kennedy famously requested “eight samples… and, if possible, another one for Bob,” a line that ultimately inspired the name Eight & Bob and marked the beginning of the brand’s legend.
The house quickly gained quiet notoriety among Hollywood figures, diplomats, and members of high society before tragedy interrupted its rise. Fouquet died in a car accident in 1939, and during World War II, Philippe reportedly hid bottles of the fragrance inside hollowed-out books to protect them from Nazi confiscation. Decades later, the original formulas and production methods were recovered, reviving the brand and transforming it into one of modern niche perfumery’s most recognizable heritage houses.
Today, Eight & Bob continues to embody a philosophy of discreet luxury and refined craftsmanship. The brand sources rare raw materials from around the world—including the legendary “Andrea” plant gathered from the Chilean Andes—and creates fragrances that feel elegant, polished, and quietly exclusive. Rather than chasing loud trends, Eight & Bob leans into timelessness: fragrances designed to feel like an invisible signature for those drawn to classic sophistication and understated confidence.
