Rules of Conduct
The Scented Cottage Class Policies & Studio Guidelines
To ensure a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience for all guests, we ask that everyone follow the policies below.
Class Duration
- Classes are scheduled for 2 hours.
- Additional studio time may be available based on scheduling and staff availability.
- Extended time is billed at $29 per 15-minute increment.
- If additional time is unavailable due to another scheduled class or event, a separate class session must be booked.
Fragrance Creation
- Each guest will create one custom fragrance during their class.
- Please blend thoughtfully, as fragrances cannot be restarted once materials have been used.
- If you wish to begin a new fragrance from scratch, a $39 restart fee will apply to cover additional materials and instruction time.
- Refunds will not be provided for fragrances that do not meet personal expectations after completion.
Food & Beverages
- Guests may bring wine or champagne with prior approval from The Scented Cottage.
- All alcoholic beverages must be disclosed and approved before the class begins.
- Hard liquor is not permitted.
- Guests who arrive visibly intoxicated or become disruptive due to alcohol consumption may be asked to leave without refund.
Studio Conduct
- Please treat our studio, furnishings, fragrance materials, and equipment with care and respect.
- Standing, dancing, or climbing on tables, stools, counters, or displays is prohibited.
- Excessive noise, disruptive behavior, inappropriate language, or conduct that interferes with the experience of other guests will not be tolerated.
- Harassment or disrespect toward staff or fellow guests will result in immediate removal from the class without refund.
- The Scented Cottage reserves the right to refuse service or remove any guest whose behavior is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate.
Guests & Attendance
- One seat is reserved for one paying guest.
- Non-participating guests are not permitted unless approved in advance.
- Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may result in reduced blending time.
- No refunds or credits will be issued for no-shows or late arrivals.
Studio Property
- Fragrance materials, bottles, tools, and supplies must remain in the studio unless included as part of your class project.
- Guests are responsible for any intentional or negligent damage to studio property, equipment, furnishings, or displays.
- Children must remain supervised at all times.

By attending a class at The Scented Cottage, guests agree to follow these policies and understand that our goal is to create an enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance.

A Journey Through Time & Scent
Before you begin creating, you’ll be introduced to the fascinating world of perfumery, from its history and traditions to the way modern perfumers build a fragrance today.
You’ll learn how different materials work together, how a fragrance develops from the first impression to the final dry down, and how scent can evoke memories, places, people, and moments we thought we had forgotten.
Then comes the best part: creating your own.
Become a Perfumer for a Day
Put on your apron and take your place at our perfumer’s organ, where you’ll have access to more than 150 fragrance materials spanning nearly every scent family imaginable.
Explore lush florals like rose, jasmine, orange blossom, and lilac; sparkling citruses such as bergamot, lemon, and grapefruit; fresh greens and airy notes; warm woods, ambers, resins, and oud; and delicious gourmands filled with vanilla, fruits, creams, spices, and more.
You’ll smell, experiment, blend, adjust, and refine your formula as you learn how top, heart, and base notes come together to create a beautifully balanced perfume.
By the end of your experience, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind fragrance created entirely by you.
