Thin Wild Mercury

A state of mind for the senses.

Thin Wild Mercury is an LA-born fine fragrance line that tells nuanced stories of iconic eras, neighborhoods, and late-night scenes in Los Angeles and New York.

Created with a DIY “do it yourself” ethos, these fragrances capture the factually historical and the purely fantastical, bottled like scented snapshots from another time.

Cathleen Cardinali - perfumer

Thin Wild Mercury was founded by Cathleen Cardinali and Anthony Polcino, a creative partnership rooted in lived experience, memory, and cultural storytelling. Cathleen spent years immersed in the world of luxury fragrance retail, developing a deep understanding of both classic perfumery and the emotional way people connect to scent. Her transition from retailer to perfumer was shaped through formal study at Institute for Art and Olfaction, where she honed a narrative-driven approach to fragrance that treats scent as autobiography, atmosphere, and time capsule.
Anthony brings a complementary creative sensibility as a lifelong musician and designer, contributing an intuitive understanding of rhythm, mood, and aesthetic cohesion. Together, they approach fragrance much like an album or a film: layered, referential, and deeply personal. Their work blurs the line between history and imagination, grounding each scent in a specific place, era, or emotional moment while leaving space for interpretation. The result is a body of fragrances that feel intimate yet cinematic—less about trend and more about storytelling, memory, and cultural texture.
