Founded in 2025 by internationally acclaimed Haitian-Canadian artist Manuel Mathieu, Manuel Mathieu Parfums extends the artist’s multidisciplinary world of painting, ceramics, and sculpture into fragrance. Rather than creating perfume as a traditional luxury product, Mathieu approaches scent as an artistic medium capable of carrying memory, spirituality, vulnerability, and transformation in deeply personal ways.
The debut collection, Chapter 1, was created alongside master perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou, known for her work with Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, and Rabanne. Together, they developed three interconnected fragrances exploring themes of sensuality, resilience, rebirth, diaspora, and emotional memory. Inspired by Mathieu’s Haitian heritage, the collection uses notes like tropical florals, tobacco, salt air, charred woods, leather, and volcanic accords to evoke landscapes, identity, and atmosphere rather than simply beauty.
Even the sculptural bottles reflect this artistic vision, modeled after hand-formed ceramic works inspired by mountains as a tribute to Haiti, whose Taíno name means “land of high mountains.” At its core, Manuel Mathieu Parfums exists at the intersection of fine art and perfumery, inviting wearers not just to smell a fragrance, but to step into a feeling, a memory, or an entire emotional landscape.
