Founded in 2026 by Isaac Lekach and Lillian Shalom, El Morocco Perfumery was born from the couple's fascination with the legendary Manhattan nightclub of the same name. Opened in 1931, El Morocco became a gathering place for Hollywood stars, artists, socialites, and cultural icons, famous for its distinctive zebra-striped banquettes, sophisticated parties, and extravagant atmosphere. Isaac, a longtime fragrance industry entrepreneur, and Lillian, a jewelry designer and creative director, began collecting original photographs, matchbooks, and memorabilia from the club, eventually envisioning a fragrance house that could bring its extraordinary history back to life.
As the first in-house fragrance brand from their company, Flower Shop Perfumes Co., El Morocco brings together a remarkable roster of perfumers, including Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Yann Vasnier, Alexis Grugeon, Céline Barel, and Laurent Le Guernec. Each fragrance captures a different chapter of the nightclub's history, from the glamorous personalities who frequented its tables to the cocktails, music, whispered conversations, and smoky atmosphere that made it legendary. Rather than recreating vintage perfumes, the house interprets these memories through a contemporary olfactory perspective.
The debut collection features five fragrances: 154, Gala, Highball for Lucius B., Lulu's Back In Town, and Two Cigarettes In The Dark. Every detail reflects the founders' devotion to historical storytelling, from the elegant metal discovery case inspired by vintage cigarette cases to the sculptural full-size bottles influenced by decorative match strikers once found on nightclub tables. At its heart, El Morocco Perfumery is an invitation to experience a vanished world of glamour, mystery, and celebration, preserving the spirit of an unforgettable era through the art of scent.
